Rainer’s career started 30 years and 150 clients ago. He formed Impact with his business partner and wife, Mary, in July 1999 after working for three Toronto public relations agencies.
Rainer has counseled executives of some of North America’s industry leaders in a variety of industries including automotive, technology, consumer products, food and beverage, government, health care and manufacturing. His most memorable client? The one that let him fill an exotic car with yogurt.
A graduate of McMaster University and Ryerson Polytechnic University, Rainer holds degrees in Political Science and History, as well as a graduate degree in Journalism. Rainer has also earned Ryerson’s post-graduate certificate in Public Relations. He is one of 1,000 professionals globally to hold the public relations Accredited Business Communicator (ABC) designation.
Rainer is crazy about design and architecture and has a thing for fast cars.
Mary’s career in public relations and marketing spans over 30 years and has included extensive work in both government and not-for-profit sectors. Mary managed corporate communications and public relations as well as marketing and special events for two Greater Toronto Area municipalities, counseling the mayor, top elected officials, senior staff and public community organizations.
In her marketing and development role at the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Mary managed the marketing, planning, public relations training, and sponsorship of large-scale national and provincial fund raising programs.
A graduate of the University of Waterloo, Mary holds an honours degree in Applied Health Sciences with a Business Option from Wilfrid Laurier University.
Mary loves fitness and food in equal measure. Though never simultaneously.
